The Honorable Oliver D. Williams, Justice of the The Supreme Court of New York has been actively engaged in many civic and community effeorts, particularly in the area of interracial and intercultural movements. He was born in Brooklyn in 1898 and died in 1981. Justice Williams was the first black elected to the New York State Supreme Court from Brooklyn and the third elected in the state. Before being elevated to the Supreme Court in 1963 he served on the bemch of the Municipal Court, the City Court and the Civil Court after passing the bar in 1924.
